A message from the president of the UMD Student Parent Club

Hi everyone,

My name is Amaya Johnson. I am the Co-founder and current President of the UMD Student Parent Club. I am set to walk this spring semester, which means I have some time, but not a lot, to establish a strong foundation for this organization. In alignment with the philosophy and purpose of the organization, I need community to make this happen.

I want to connect with undergraduate students and graduate students who are student-parents, non-traditional students, or open to fostering found family for one reason or another! We want to put this club on your radar. We are working diligently behind the scenes to ensure that we are a force when it comes to recruiting and outreach. To help build and expand this organization and help foster advocacy and community, people need to know this exists. I am an undergraduate student who is a student-parent, nontraditional student, and open to fostering/holding space for found family. If you see this, I see you. If you see this and you do not fit any of the above, please share with your network because we exist, and sometimes that existence is in the background. Whether you want to join the organization or you just want to aid in the mission, contact us. We are grateful for all of the support that we can get.
