Muncy’s research encompassed the five separate histories of grassroots organizing supporting women fleeing domestic violence in the 1970s, using War on Poverty programs. Former President Lyndon B. Johnson launched the initiative in 1964 to solve systemic poverty through a series of welfare programs.
