A look back at a successful Trans Day of Visibility Community Day

Congratulations to our LGBTQ+ Equity Center team for hosting a successful Trans Day of Visibility Community Day last week!

The Equity Center expanded their programming this year from their usual cookie-decorating festivities to include more activities focused on community-building for all attendees. These included a collaborative art project and a mini-conference, where community members presented and led discussions on topics like religion and trans* identities, gender inclusivity and community unity, and researching trans history at UMD. (And yes, there were still cookies!)

More than 70 attendees joined the day, attended mini-conference sessions, and added to the art piece, which will continue to be filled in over time. The event also garnered some media attention and were featured in Stories Beneath the Shell: UMD LGBTQ+ Equity Center celebrates Transgender Day of Visibility.
