Black History Month in review
Plus, Solomon in the news—twice!
February may be over, but it’s always a great time to celebrate Black history. Here are three ways to keep the celebrations going: first, Solomon Comissiong, assistant director of student involvement & public relations at Nyumburu Cultural Center (and leader of the Black History and Political Education workshop series, among other resources!) was interviewed not once but twice for articles about Black History Month at UMD:
- To UMD community members, 100 years of Black History Month signifies strength, resilience (The Diamondback)
- UMD community reflects on Black History Month impact, events (Stories Beneath the Shell)
Black History Month Closing Ceremony 2026 at Nyumburu
And if you missed the BHM Closing Ceremony at Nyumburu last week, we’ve got you covered there as well. Enjoy the recording below!
This is just a start, of course. Let us know how you plan to continue learning, celebrating and honoring Black history throughout the year!
