On April 2, 2026, renowned Washington DC based community organizer and activist, Edward X, delivered a powerful and engaging talk at the Nyumburu Cultural Center. His inspiring discussion detailed his life growing up in the streets of DC, being incarcerated in a federal prison as an adult at the age of 17, finding knowledge and wisdom while being locked up and how he devoted his life to improving his community when he was finally released in his 30s. The crowd, which was comprised of students, faculty, staff and community members, were thoroughly engaged throughout the powerful lecture and open discussion.
